Birth events are found as birth notices. These provide the name of the father, the place of residence of birth, and the birthdate. Birth events are indexed by the name of the father only.

Marriage events are found primarily as marriage notices. These supply
the names of the bride and groom, their residences and/or place of marriage,
and the marriage date. Some include the names of the father of the groom or
bride. Marriage events are indexed by the names of the groom and bride
(maiden and married), as well as any other persons mentioned.

Death events can be found as either death notices or in the news items
listed throughout the newspapers. These can be the result of accidents,
murders, suicides, etc. Lengthy obituaries for this time period are rare,
but where they appear, a notation is made. Death events are indexed by
the name of the deceased and any other persons mentioned.

relocations (movement of people and businesses), visitations (to or by former
residents and relatives), fires (houses, barns and businesses), as well as
other miscellaneous events.

appearances (local, county and provincial levels), sentencings, and mentions
of coroner's inquests. Given names are seldom found with court appearances.

etc.). All advertisements found in the first newspaper issue included in
each Winfield Publishing volume, are indexed. For Volume 1 it is
24 March 1870, and for Volume 2 it is 5 January 1875. New advertisers
are added (when noted).
