Our Halton County Wesleyan Methodist baptism book gives complete information from the Wesleyan Methodist Baptismal Registers, held at the United Church of Canada Archives (Toronto, Ontario). We have presented the entries in their original order and the index of all names includes the parents and the baptized.
Our Mount Forest newspaper books are more than just indexes. These detailed guides to The Confederate newspaper, though focusing on the people of the Mount Forest area, include names mentioned in news picked-up from other newspapers in the province. The entries are abstracts of births, deaths, marriages, news and judicial events, advertisements, and legal notices. Females are indexed by both married and maiden names (if given). For each person, we have included brief notes (ie: age, cause of death, type of event, relationship, etc.), as well as residences and/or event places.
Our Mount Forest Census & Assessment book provides a complete abstract of the 1871 Census and detailed information from the 1871 assessment (tax) roll for the village. We also include listings for Mount Forest from the Gazetteer & Directory of the County of Wellington for 1871-72, Lovell's Province of Ontario Directory for 1871, and the Dun & Bradstreet reference books for January and July 1871.
For each of our books we have designed webpages to:
describe the book's size and content,
reproduce a map similar to the book's, and
present a sample of the book's format.
With the assistance of Frank and Walter Bax, we have developed the Winfield Publishing Surname Index, based upon names found in the indexes of our thirteen books.
As part of our goal to provide online reference materials, we are developing our Ontario Counties Info and our Men of the Empire sites. Stay tuned.
Jeff and Sherilyn had the privilege of being featured in the May 1998
Equinox magazine. The article was condensed in the June 1999
Readers Digest magazine, which was condensed further on their
website.
Writer Greg Stott, after describing Sherilyn's quest for her family's heritage,
ends the article with
Now Bell knows, and so will her children, when they come along.
And when they ask, "Mommy, where did I come from?" she will have the answers.
Thanks to Greg's prompting, Jeff and Sherilyn were blessed with an addition to
their family tree, with the arrival of
Andrew in May 1999.
